I didn’t workout for two weeks.
And here is what happened.
Nothing.
Actually-I felt awesome.
-
Two weeks might sound like a typical rest to some-but I can’t remember the last time I took a period of rest longer than 5 days.
While there have been periods of my life where I forced movement, most of the time-I just did it because it was built into my daily schedule because I loved it.
-
As I headed to this farm for two weeks I went in with the mindset to let go of all control and routine I usually have.
No need to meditate and journal every morning, no need to workout 5 days a week, no need to have protein at most meals, just be, and let it all happen.
Here is what I discovered.
-
I do feel better eating protein + fiber at every meal. After eating lots of meals of just simple carbs I noticed my energy was not as high as it usually is, and I often experienced an afternoon slump as well. Not every meal has to be perfect but it’s good to know what makes me feel good.

Rest is powerful. While I was still walking around the farm, I did not pick up a single weight or do a single crunch the whole time I was there. I felt my body enter a state of zen, it felt strong in a different way, it felt… at peace. And the best part was, when I returned home, I felt inspired to move again, but the stress behind getting the “perfect” workout is now eliminated.
-
I love my workouts but for other personal/health reasons I may get into a different writing piece, I am on a journey right now, of choosing to prioritize more rest.
Prioritizing low Impact workouts.
Walking as always.
Doing my best not to double up and over exercise in one day.
Letting my body recharge.

It’s a gift to move our body-but it’s also a gift to let it tell us it needs unconditional rest and unconditional love.
